The episode of “Mirrors” focused on two women who broke with societal norms and left their abusive husbands to live their lives as single women/mothers. Each woman talked about the societal pressures to stay in toxic relationships. They shared their struggle to leave and the dignity and pride they feel now for themselves and as role models for others.

“More Than a Game” brought listeners into a small martial arts training center in Virginia. The episode profiles two girls, one with Down syndrome and the other who was bullied throughout her life. Together, the young ladies talk about finding strength and self-confidence through martial arts, showing that being different doesn’t mean being left behind.
